Gifted people: a skin-deep sensitivity
It's often said that gifted people are too cold and cerebral.
This is true, but only on the surface. In reality, they are hypersensitive and are often paralysed by their emotions. They feel other people's emotions intensely and can be bruised by seemingly harmless phrases. They then isolate themselves, licking their wounds out of sight.
If we don't realise how sensitive these singular individuals are, it's simply because they hide it well.
This is down to the famous false self, which acts as a type of social armour to supposedly protect them from the outside world. A world which often associates sensitivity with weakness...
But there's no shame in being moved or hurt. Accepting our emotions and especially letting them show allows us to become more human and gives an insight into who we really are. It also opens the door to being better understood and accepted by others, by giving them the keys to understanding.
After all, what's the risk?
